Hi.
I am looking for the current layout of Limerick Junction. Google searches only gives me the pre- 2007 situation.
Is the former platform 2/3 usuable at full lenght or only the northern part of the platform?
Thanks and happy St. P.'s
Martin

The bay is now signalled to allow two trains, so Limerick and Waterford trains can serve the platform simultanuously.

But cut to one train lenght. Thanks station building still in use?
Back in the early 90s there was nothing there and therefore no need for a car park. Even tipperary people hardly seemed to have used it.
Yes, only half the mainline platform is still in use, Dublin-Cork services use it in both directions now. I believe the platform still in use was formerly the Cork-bound platform.

That’s not quite true - there always a parking problem at the station and Tipperary town and environs was always the main market for originating customers.

The old layout was quirky, but long past its sell-by date and providing proper parking facilities was long overdue.

There are plans for a new platform to be added on the down side to avoid the need for Dublin-Cork trains to cross over to the up track to serve the existing platform.
