Route affected Birmingham New Street - Wolverhampton - Codsall - Cosford - Telford Central - Shrewsbury - Aberystwyth
Description Services between Wolverhampton and Cosford are being disrupted due to a line blockage at Codsall. The line will be blocked for the remainder of Sunday 12 June. Train services to/from Shrewsbury will start from and terminate at Cosford. Road transport will replace trains between Wolverhampton and Telford Central, due to congestion caused by the Cosford air show road services will not call at Cosford. Passengers travelling between Birmingham/Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury are advised to travel via Crewe
Updates

17:09 Passengers travelling from Cosford towards Wolverhampton/Birmingham will have to travel from Cosford to Telford Central by train, then road replacement from Telford Central to Wolverhampton. Passengers can then travel forward to their destination
22:25 The latest estimate for the re-opening of the line is 08:00 on Monday 13 June 2005

this is a long shot but it could of been some sort of army training exercise with there being an army base at cosford

Doubt it - doesn't appear to have been planned in advance in any way, shape or form :) .
