Re. the above, recent problems near Polegate due landslip is highlighted by Southern on their website, with a link to "further details". Follow the link and it has another link to either individual journeys or National Rail. That's not helpful if you want to see the progress of the maintenance work or more importantly, when it's no longer a problem. Today my partner wanted to book a ticket to Penzance, 31/5-3/6. GWR reported possible disruption on this route. She e mailed GWR and again the reply gave no details of when and where disruption would occur, only to be referred back to National Rail site and the (!) against the journey! Is there a route to bypass this flannel?

The GWR planned engineering web page is here

https://www.gwr.com/travel-updates/planned-engineering

It doesn't show any major work going on during the week you mention and working on the route into Devon and Cornwall during a school holiday week wouldn't be the best idea, would it?

The pdf of any alterations for that week will probably appear in the list at the bottom of that page in the next few days - and the details will get fed into the online booking systems so the exclamation mark on the National Rail site will disappear - but I'd say you are probably safe to go ahead and book.
