Summary Line-side fire between Hendon and Cricklewood
Time reported 14:06
TOC(s) affected Midland Mainline, Thameslink
Route affected Sheffield/Nottingham - Leicester - Bedford - Luton - St Albans - Kings Cross Thameslink/London St Pancras - London Bridge/Wimbledon - East Croydon - Gatwick Airport - Brighton
Description Train services between Hendon and Cricklewood are being disrupted due to a line-side fire. Short notice alterations, cancellations and delays can be expected. There is currently no estimated time for a normal service to resume
Easements London Underground, London buses, Silverlink, South West Trains, Central Trains, Southern and WAGN are accepting Thameslink tickets on all reasonable routes
Updates

21:23 Thameslink are running two services per hour between Bedford and Kentish Town departing Bedford xx20 & xx50 and departing Kentish Town xx30 & xx00. Southbound Thameslink services will start/terminate at London Blackfriars for the remainder of today Saturday 16 July 2005. A road replacement service is in operation between Mill Hill Broadway and Edgware London Underground station where customers can connect with the London Underground. A road replacement service will operate between Luton and Stevenage and between St Albans and Hatfield

This caused absolute chaos to Midland Mainline services, with SB services terminating at Luton, and most NB services cancelled. At Sheffield, passengers were being advised to use the ECML. The railways cannot get much worse at the moment :(
