Thinking from the other thread of links being lost when a bus company takes over another bus company, got me thinking of links/through links lost after bus wars have ended, couple of examples.

GM Buses operated the 34 Liverpool-Manchester & 320 Liverpool-Wigan, when MTL & GM Buses North & South as GM Buses had become, came up with the gentlemen's agreement to pull out from each others operating area.

34/320 were a couple of casualties because of this, 34 being split at Leigh, with MTL operating Leigh-Liverpool & GM Buses North operating Leigh-Manchester, soon MTL cut the St Helens-Liverpool section to peaks only, then completely withdrawn St Helens-Liverpool section.

The Leigh-Manchester section has had a few revisions too

320 being cut to St Helens-Wigan & transfered to be operated by North Western

There have been occasional situations in Bristol where First jumped on competition, with the First service being withdrawn pretty much as soon as the competition was disposed of. Most notable to my mind was the (late 90s) 46/X46/X66/57 service from the city centre to Lawrence Weston via the Portway which was operated by Valley Travel for many years without First taking an interest. As soon as Eurotaxis took over from VT, First were on there with a half hourly service until Eurotaxis pulled off. They made a half-hearted attempt to retain a service on the route for a little while afterwards, but it soon got reduced back to peak hours only. Likewise when Somerbus decided to take on the Avon contracted 528 (Hartcliffe - Avonmouth) service commercial around 93/94, Badgerline immediately registered to compete with it (as 27/A and 28/A), which then became a much reduced 23 (and subsidised 528/530) with CityLine soon afterwards.
