Hey guys! First post - really excited! :happy11:

I'm a big fan of UK rail liveries, and think most of them add a bit of variety to the network. Some are obviously dire, and some TOCs are constantly in transition between designs, so I was wondering if this only really happens in the UK as we have private TOCs?

Does anyone have any info on other countries?? I mean, like in France , Itlaly, Germany, Oz or wherever, do they have this mix of liveries? I guess some countries which have state owned rail networks have a bit more consistency I would guess with all trains same colours and logos etc, or are there differences there too? Like colours and things for different parts of the country?

I was just thinking about this today and realised I didn't really have a clue. Wonder if anyone could shed some light on what goes on in other countries. :toothy8:

Thanks guys!

Thanks very much for your replies.

The RailFan website is very useful, and I also appreciate your thoughts on the subjet Metroland. A lot of sites have pics of trains abroad, but I didn't really know how that fitted in to a sort of overall picture. You've certainly shed some light on the subject!
