Manchester has a nice light rail system. It's obviously not as impressive as the Tube, but it's a decent system for a city of its size.

I chuckled at the Southport pier train. I used to ride its predecessor back in the 60s/70s.

Have done similar moves on the Lancashire Day Ranger. Those 507s and 508s are absolute truncheons! Did a trip on a 508 from Sandhills to Southport and back the last time I did an LDR, was very impressed! Not keen on the interiors but the sound they make at full chat is awesome.
