it's a bit short notice for cheap advance tickets - but try splitting at Birmingham or Wolverhampton and also Cheltenham Spa.

Getting a through advance ticket on London Midland and XC seems to be extremely difficult, you usually need to split them.

There are also often cheap Advance tickets from Birmingham to Cheltenham but not through to Bristol, and Cheltenham to Bristol is only £7.30 off-peak single anyway.

I doubt it, the advance fares from Liverpool will be gone by now.

£62.30 for travel after 0930.

Just checked Manchester-Bristol as an alternative and the only advance fares left are £29 single, so looks like you're just going to have to pay the £60 sorry... I do think that's quite reasonable though really, 400 miles round trip, about 15p a mile !

The £62.30 fare is the Off-Peak Return (SVR) valid by Any Permitted route. On the Friday, it's available by any train except those scheduled to depart before 0930 and on the Saturday you can return by any train. The price reflects this flexibility.

As others have said, cheaper Advance fares are no longer available by the fastest route. But there is a slower, cheaper option. Searching for "Liverpool to Bristol Temple Meads via Shrewsbury, I get:

Friday 15 January
18:04 Liverpool Lime Street - Crewe 18:47
19:10 Crewe - Newport S Wales 21:48
21:56 Newport S Wales - Bristol Temple Meads 22:29
Standard Advance Single £23.00.

Saturday 16 January
16:21 Bristol Temple Meads - Newport S Wales 16:59
17:05 Newport S Wales - Crewe 19:25
19:58 Crewe - Liverpool Lime Street 20:46
Standard Advance Single £23.00.

Total £46.00

These are non-flexible fares valid only on the trains shown. There is a quota for each of these fares, so these tickets should be booked soon to get the £46 price.

Hi if I travel before 17-00 I can book advance singles from Liv to Brum for £10
Brum to Bris for £16-50
and return
Bris to Brum £11-50
Brum to Liv £10
So £48-00...
can anyone do any better? Ta.
