So happened to be passing the NRM sidings where railtour locomotives are stored for the Scarbrough Spa season - and noticed a Jubilee wearing the number (4)5627 and nameplates "Sierra Leone". The orginal was scrapped in 1966. I know that (4)5699 "Galatea" pretends to be (4)5562 "Alberta" as it stole some parts from it. What engine is pretending to be "Sierra Leone" and what is the thinking behind this?

Which colour was the Jub? There are currently 3 in service - Leander is (or certainly was...) in BR Black and looks almost identical to a Black 5. Galatea as you say is done up as 45562 Alberta (not entirely incorrect as I think it carries the boiler or some other significant part from Alberta) in BR Green and Bahamas is the only double-chimney example, but I'm 99% sure they wouldn't do this with Bahamas.

My guess is that it would be Galatea, renumbered again, but I don't know why. Interested to know if anyone else does?

The NRM has been doing stuff over recent years with the Sierra Leone Railway museum, so my guess is that it is tribute to that partnership

Hello,

Thanks for the input. Saw it today in BR green and the boiler number has not been changed. It is Galatea/Alberta - now Sierra Leone!

I suppose the nmaing makes sense given the work going on with the Sierra Leone museum.
