Can we have some news for a change on coaches and dvt's please? what are the status of mk4 coaches.how many left etc

To my knowledge 8 sets, BN23-BN30 inclusive, have been stood down and hauled away.

Vehicles from 3 sets, BN23-BN25 inclusive, have been taken to Eastleigh for preparation for service with TfW.

Other vehicles from set BN23 were taken by road to Booths in Rotherham during late August for scrap.

Selected vehicles (82217-11328-10310-12320-12218) from set BN28 were returned to Bounds Green about a week after it was dragged to Worksop to provide a fleet of spares for use as required - the only one of these I have seen in a set in service since their return is 10310 but that's not to say others haven't seen use too.

I haven't been to London for a few weeks, but I understand a few sets are also out of use in Ferme Park CS but can be used at short notice if required.

I have also seen reports that, in addition to the afore-mentioned vehicles from set BN23, others have been sent for scrap too but I haven't been able to find any further information out about these nor any definitive confirmation that it is indeed true.

Most if not all info regarding specific vehicle identities can be found by reading through this thread.

Hope this helps.

Sent to Booths for scrap in August were 11292/423, 12455/456 (all ex BN23).
Sent to Booths for scrap in late Sept/early Oct were 11293/424, 12403/425 (all ex BN24).

I think there may have been some more vehicles sent for scrap earlier this month as well, but haven't got details/had this confirmed.

Thanks.

Interesting to note that the 123xx vehicles (with wheelchair space and disabled toilet) are the only ones not spoken for (either with TfW or scrapped) from both BN23 and BN24.

Presumably this is no coincidence..

Not so much a "withdrawal" as such, but 91131 worked 1W22 (the 1500 King's Cross to Stirling service) last night, thus becoming the first "Electra" to use the recently installed wires over the E&G. It had taken over from 800110 at Edinburgh Waverley to complete the final leg of 1W22 as part of a gauging trial, in advance of possible regular use on 1E03/1W22 from the timetable change.

Different owner, different strategies.
Indeed Eversholt seem very quick to send stuff to the scrap yard compared to Angel or Porterbrook. (also see GN 313 ann TfL Rail/LO 315s)

Not a withdrawal but Bounds Green's frequent resident 91116 is on an ounting today. It's working 1E18 the 14:00 EDB to KGX service right now with DVT 82210. Managed to get it from MPT to NCL just over an hour ago.

I've never seen a class 91 and clearly time is running out, I live in the north of Scotland so wondering the closest place to see one. Are they still running up to Edinburgh? If I travelled further south is there a better place to see one?

Yes. They make it to Stirling early morning / late evening.

Edinburgh is your best bet . What has prevented you seeing or going on one so far ?

There's a few reasons I've not been able to travel much but I can now so I'm wanting to try and catch various trains I've not been able to see in person myself.

There are still nearly 20 Mk IV weekday diagrams, many of which get to Edinburgh (some only to Newcastle, York or Leeds).

Given their poorer acceleration it's probably better to concentrate the remaining 225 sets on the services with longer runs between stops

That’s certainly a pattern I’m getting, with fewer and fewer on the Grantham stoppers that are actually of any use to me.

Yeah, two 91s in P5 and P6 last night on the last services to KX . Plus the one i took to Stirling .

Surprised they bothered clearing then 91 to Stirling , does mean the wires are getting something proper ha

I think that fits with other posts on the shortages LNER are facing and the comments about Edinburgh services being ideal for the 91s where the lower acceleration is less of an issue
