So, I was in Wakefield recently, had some time spare and got a WY Daysaver Train and pottered about for a bit. My ticket back to Peterborough was from Doncaster, so I bought a South Elmsall to Doncaster single and hopped on the same train at Leeds.
Now, there was no ticket check so I've no idea whether this combo was acceptable to LNER. Searching on this forum, it seems far from conclusive, too. I know what NRCoT says, but what is the position "on the ground"?
Couple of side questions - how come there are two Anytime Single fares from South Elmsall to Doncaster? One (£10.10) seems to be set by LNER and the other (£3.40) by SYPTE. Neither has any restrictions. Do LNER make you buy the former? (Not that their ticket machines tell you who sets the fares...)
Finally, has anyone had any luck getting a WY Daysaver issued outside the county? I remember reading reports ages ago, and I know officially it's in W York's only, but wondered if it's something an obliging ticket office would gladly do.
