I think £39.80 is the any permitted fare
So, presumably, the highest fare that would have to be paid for a return journey on these services and the fare that is guaranteed to be valid in terms of route? (I wasn't lying when I said ticketing wasn't my forte ;) haha)

It is unadvertised and only available for people possessing a tickets which included Peterborough to London.
It will not be advertised on Information screens or in search engines.
Full revenue checks conducted by LNER will be performed on all services.
I don’t think this is the case is it? I didn’t think LNER could do revenue on trains that aren’t run by them?

They can perform revenue checks on platforms at their station for any train company though! So could be done that way

Just wondering - would an Any Permitted Peterborough to London return be valid via (and to exit at St Albans) tomorrow? Since the official route is buses between there and Hitchin/Bedford and St Neots?

These services are now appearing on the National Rail app (and therefore presumably other apps as well) with off peak tickets offered at £39.90

Saturday's is live on booking systems, Sunday's isn't yet it appears.
Couldn't actually find them on any other apps but I prefer a ticket office anyway so I've just done an off peak, any valid route, into all London terminus.

I know plenty will probably enjoy a free ride over the weekend but I much prefer to pay my way and £40 RTN for loco hauled on the mainline can hardly be sniffed at these days

I do wonder if the GTNRTHRN&THMLINK Off-Peak Return tickets would be valid? Looking on a TVM, that ticket is purchasable for that weekend, yet it's showing as not valid on ANY services hahatuevxnDMca.png

It certainly didn't appear on the system at the ticket office (or at least I wasn't offered it) and I did ask for a best price initially before getting into route validity!

I think it's all going to boil down to what checks are done (and by whom) as to whether people encounter issues.

That's not the same as revenue checks on the service, as you initially stated though.

I would still buy your tickets. Even if there aren't revenue inspectors on board, in the decade I've been using Liverpool St station I've never once ever seen the barriers open, even in severe disruption.

I've seen the barriers open once, and that was late night last year (11pm)

It's a station where I've seen the barriers in use at 4am (before Covid) for the morning Stansted Express (when it was actually an Express).

I presume it's all standard class MK2 coaches or is there some random first class coaches thrown into the mix

Absolutely. But nonsense posts about LNER ticket checks onboard aren't required. I'm sure that any member reading this thread will still buy their tickets.

I agree - I was shocked to see the barriers open about a month ago at about 10:30pm - but even then it wasn't every gateline, I think it was just one set if I remmeber rightly. I have never seen the gates to platforms 1-4 open.

RTT says there will be first class accommodation so I'd presume it's there.

Went via Weedon rather than the booked route via Northampton.
I think there were some problems with the route via Northampton today. WMT were terminating at Rugby from Birmingham.

It is not nonsense when that is what I have been told by several people, that LNER are doing checks on board, merely repeating what I have been told.
If you want to treat it as nonsense, fine, but don’t start telling me I am posting nonsense.

Should one of these trains be delayed by, say, 90 minutes - who is Delay Repay claimed from?

This question perfectly demonstrates why LNER RPIs are going to be on a hiding to nothing trying to take any action against ticketless passengers. WCRC aren't one of the Train Companies under the NRCoT, so even an Any Permitted ticket will not (legally speaking) be valid.

Regardless of who is operating the train / checking tickets if BTP was asked to attend a ticketless passenger the offence of no ticket for travel has been committed. The officer wouldn't be concerned with the technicalities of whose staff are on what train etc.

Unless this operation is deemed to be on behalf of another operator (in which case, that is who any Delay Repay claim should be directed to), WCRC isn't a TOC within the NRCoT, so there is no way of buying a ticket and hence no offence committed under Byelaw 18.
