could I please have the ex service out of Blackfriars before 2009
I would love to know if they ever ran anything London Bridge > Blackfriars.
Not sure exactly what you are asking for, but assuming immediately before 2009 it wasn't very different from now:could I please have the ex service out of Blackfriars before 2009
How did it serve Bromley North? Did it go down the branch, then reverse and come back? Or did a portion detach somewhere eg Grove Park?in the distant past there was an 0102 Blackfriars-Orpington which cross-connected at LBG with the last Charing X-Dartford-Gillingham (and even at one time served Bromley N en route - which is no longer possible).
I think the Maidstones were once to Ashford. They ran via Elephant, next stop Bromley South. Not sure exactly what you are asking for, but assuming immediately before 2009 it wasn't very different from now:
Sevenoaks via Catford and Swanley - 30min offpeak, 20min morning peak (at one time with extras from Bellingham/Shortlands/Bromley S.
Maidstone/Gillingham - limited peak service fast(-ish) to Bromley S
Beckenham Jn via Herne Hill - peak hours only.
Some trains started back from City TL.
The Wimbledon and Sutton route was Thameslink, plus the Gatwick services which in the peak mostly also ran via Tulse Hill.
Apart from Thamelink there were no regular trains via London Br, but in the distant past there was an 0102 Blackfriars-Orpington which cross-connected at LBG with the last Charing X-Dartford-Gillingham (and even at one time served Bromley N en route - which is no longer possible).
Yes to 1 and 3 (and to your recollection about London Br) at various times since 1967.I think the Maidstones were once to Ashford. They ran via Elephant, next stop Bromley South.
I don't recall SEML or Maidstone line services running via London Bridge and either Orpington or Swanley, but they may have, of course.
In addition to Beckenham, I think there were some Kent House turns too. That peak services survives today. Ideally it would be throughout the day, it's a better pairing at Herne Hill.
Down the branch and back - this was early 70s BTW.How did it serve Bromley North? Did it go down the branch, then reverse and come back? Or did a portion detach somewhere eg Grove Park?
And back in the 70s there were the peak Dartfords (Loop and Bexleyheath) which were switched to Victoria...I remember just before Blackfriars was rebuilt, when you had the 3 bay platforms.
You had the half-hourly Sevenoaks via Catford, and then a random mixture of peak extras all along the Catford and Chatham routes. I know of a 2Sxx which went to Herne Hill (called) then Bromley and stops to Rochester; there was a Kent House terminator from Vic that had a Blackfriars - Orpington behind it via Herne Hill. Some Ashford and I think a peak Broadstairs (?).
I have to admit I thought the OP was only asking for about 2005-2008.And back in the 70s there were the peak Dartfords (Loop and Bexleyheath) which were switched to Victoria...
Well, so did I, which is where I started in #4.I have to admit I thought the OP was only asking for about 2005-2008.
ISTR 1 was taken out before 2 and 3. Terminating trains (as post #4) would have used the bays, but I can't say which one was most used offpeak. They were also used for stock storage and could take 10 cars (the platforms themselves were only 8).Was platforms 1 and 2 used during off peak ?
