Just passing through York and seen this. Anyone know why this was here?
It will be working for Northern now, it's got a white band over the old LM branding.
It's a northern unit now and has been for about a year at least just not been repainted yet
It looks more like the part of the vinyl with the old LM logo on it has simply been scraped off to me.
Could well be.
Thanks guys. Wonder why they haven’t rebranded it; maybe it is one of the trains set to go when they axe the pacers.
It would be either 150105 150107 or 150109.
It’s 150109. You can see the last digit of the number.
PRM mods were more pressing than reprints at the end of last year. They have had PRM mods and internally have Northern seat covers so will definitely be staying.
Its 150109. It worked the 1045 York to Bridlington and return past Beverley to York at 1332 today.
I saw this yesterday. Another one to add to the long list of Northern units which may or may not get refurbished before being retired.
Maybe they thought - "that's a much nicer livery than ours" - and decided to keep it as it is
You are on the right lines there! But having had vinyl decals removed it is quite scruffy close up. Good livery though and better than the orange bits added on new LNW livery.
Wonder how many places London Midland livery has got to. It was a common sight between Dalmuir and Motherwell for a while when the first 320/4s were converted. Has it been seen in the far south west as well?
In the north we had the green Centro livery on lots of 158s that were moved here-15 years ago?? The LM livery was an update of the Centro livery.
I remember those transferred units well as they had all internal signs in English and Welsh because at that time Centro had worked the Cambrian Line. They were externally repainted onto Northern livery but internally the Centro interiors lasted a long time as they were well done.
Yes, would have visited everywhere FGW's 153s would go thanks to 153325 & 333.
It has also visited various destinations in the south - a London Midland 350/1 once visited Siemens Northam Depot in Southampton (Hauled both ways by a 57/3), while the 350/1s had a brief stint operating on the 3rd Rail on the Milton Keynes to Clapham Junction? service while deputising for 377/2s for Southern.
I believe it’s also been seen on GA territory when 321417 came on loan a few years back
I assume you mean Central Trains? Centro was the brand name used by the West Midlands PTE in the 1990s and early 2000s.
London Midland branded 350/4s are currently operating to Glasgow and Edinburgh on a daily basis.
Those are in London Northwestern but the LM livery did run that route for a while when the 350/3s were brand new and helped out on Tpe over the Commonwealth games IIRC
158s wore Central Trains livery, and London Midland livery was nothing like it. Central Trains worked the Cambrian line until it transferred to the newly created Wales and Borders franchise.
Only 150s (and 323s) carried Centro (The name of the West Midlands Passenger Transport Authority as noted above) livery, and on the 150s it was superseded by a derivation of Central Trains livery to reflect their use on local services within the West Midlands.
Seen them in Bristol a year or so ago.
Yes, TPE used the LM 350/3 in July/August 2014 before they were delivered to LM as they are virtually identical in spec to the 350/4 and were built around the same time. They ran with one TPE and one LM unit coupled together to increase capacity during the commonwealth games.
