Looking to book Milton Keynes - Euston and I'm getting some strange fares from London Midland's up to 50% off sale.

Is this an error, not rounding up/down the fares to the nearest 5p?

I've look at a few journeys between different stations and with an without railcard and most are showing unrounded fares. Has someone forget to include the rounding algorithm for the sale fares?

Can't offer insight into why it's happening, but the order in which the halving of the price is done could mean some prices aren't quite 50% off!
eg. Fare is usually £10.06
-> Usually this is rounded to £10.05 (what the customer pays)
-> Half of £10.06 is £5.03
-> Some software may round this up to £5.05 (what customers could pay)
-> £5.05 is more than half of £10.05

Just a quick explanation for you...

In order to show a discount 'star' next to the sale prices, we have reduced the fares by an additional 1p. Although this gives fares to the nearest penny, we decided on this course of action as it makes the sale fares even easier to see and makes no difference to the customer's change levels as all transactions are by card.

Hope this helps,

David

Thank you, David. Also it has been pointed out that some prices were incremented by 1p, therefore ending in 6p, although that hardly makes any difference.

Might become a collector's item in the future. :D
