Hi All,

I was wondering if you guys could offer some help to make my journey as cheap as possible:

Planning to go to Attleborough from London (Liverpool Street) and visit Cambridge on the way for 1 day. Would a normal day single from London to Attleborough allow staying over in Cambridge for 1 night before making the 2nd half of the journey?

6/5: London - idealy leave before 11 am and stay for 1 night in Cambridge
7/5: Cambridge to Attleborough - (leave by 5pm) day return to Cambridge (arr by 7-8 pm)
8/5: Cambridge to Stansted (leave by 5.30am)

We have Family and friends rail card and 1 adult with Young Persons = 4 adults and 1 kid but kid will be dropped at grandparents at Attleborough.

We can travel from any London terminals depending on which is cheaper as we have to come out from Croydon anyway. Also happy to do any break journey if it's cheaper!

Thanks a lot!

LONDON TERMINALS 1072 - ATTLEBOROUGH 7367
Route Via Cambridge
Off-Peak Return
£37.40 Restriction 9A

You can use the outbound portion of this ticket on the second day if the journey cannot be completed on the first day, however all travel must be completed by 0430 on the third day.

What constitutes cannot be completed is not defined.

You cannot obtain a F&F discount for the leg that the child will not be travelling with you, regardless of whether a child fare is paid or not. Unfortunately in this instance it is cheaper to buy the undiscounted fares (with exception of the 16-25 Railcard holder) than to purchase discounted and full fare singles for the outbound and return legs separately.
