I have a collection of London Underground platform tickets which I bought while driving around the system with my girlfriend. There are about 250 tickets with 16 missing from the 1965 stations. I'm clearing stuff out and was wondering whether people still collect these, and if so, can anyone give me an idea of their likely value. That would be most helpful, so thank you. And just out of interest, I and, 3 friends, held the Guinness World Record for the fastest transit of the system in 1979, and have the Guinness certificate to prove it.

Happy to offer so guidance here - I have recently sold a similar collection near complete slightly earlier 1962/63 , worked out at approx £1 per ticket , you see them listed on ebay and the like at between £1 and £2 , but they never seem to sell when you look into it.
At auction at the moment i would think after costs you would expect to return £150 on a bad day £120 .
Hope that helps , feel free to contact me if you need any more info .

Thank you so much for your very helpful reply. Much appreciated. Would you recommend ebay or a specialist site or a 'real' auction?

You could try e bay with a fixed reserve , or really best go specialist , there are a number of Railway / Transport specialist sales , not sure where you are in the country eg London Transport Auction Co - they seem to be getting high returns on things looking at last months sales results , try them first , then GB Ticket Auctions .
Do check costs and commissions with them both first .
Hope that helps
