Following on from this exchange on the Central Line stock requests thread https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/central-line-stock-allocations.164052/page-2#post-3779947 I figured it's probably better to have a single thread than one for each line... So here we are.

If I may, if anyone could please let me know tomorrow ( Monday 17th ) if they either have access to the information when it is available in the morning, or see the stock in service, let me know where the following to DMs are on the Metropolitan Line? Being the only two S8 DMs that I have yet to photograph...

    21021
    21040

Ah, thank you - so if I get 21021 then I might as well disappear straight afterwards to work on another list; most likely the Piccadilly with 8 DMs still needed, across 6 units - all of them double cab units just to make it more awkward...

It goes without saying that if anyone else posts a request for anything here and I see it before anyone with official access replies, I'll post the details of my sighting.

21021/2 should start from Rickmansworth at 0646, run as train 447 all day before stabling at Neasden at 0128.

This is, of course, subject to reforms/cancellations etc.

Good thread idea Peter. It could help me today as I am in London all day chasing various bits and pieces. I’m looking for the whereabouts of my last Northern stock 51681/51682.
    Any help welcome. Thanks.

I’m not sure of T020’s diagram. I will be at Embankment around mid day. Will it pass around then?
    Many thanks.

You can view/download working timetables to find out what a specific train should do on the TfL website here https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/working-timetables

Note that with the exception of a few longer term alterations such as leaf fall timetables, timetable notices for engineering work/public holidays/etc are not published here usually.

    Does London Underground have a
TOPS style system for allocating specific sets to train service diagrams?
On a recent trip to London,I was in search of my last 3 Central Line twin sets.
I asked some staff who seemed to offer little or no knowledge.
Luckily,2 out of my 3 were in one train!
I only need 91099 to clear the Central Line
    now.
I also need 1 Bakerloo Line
    3 Piccadilly Line
    4 Northern Line sets and
    8 S7 Stock trains.

    Love the LU system.
    Travelled the whole serviceable network.
Alighted and boarded at every station always boarding the following service.
Has taken me quite a few visits though but really enjoyed it.
Probably why I'm down to small numbers to clear for haulage.

TOMAS is the LU system, which only a few Staff (engineering Management) have access to.
Another system is TrackerNet, which is the live reporting system, (and replay for three months) which is available to many Staff. This will only show the leading operative car/unit number although the replay option can be used to find the other end. Difficult to determine 1992 Stock middle formations on a daily basis therefore.

Central Line stations have (or certainly had!) a computer terminal which could perform various functions, one of which being to look up train formations which includes middle units. Another rarely-used facility was to be able to alter the platform dot-matrix indicators (the original ones provided as part of the Central Line modernisation) - I have a picture somewhere of one of the indicators reading “Central London Railway” instead of Central Line. However to get train formations this way one would have to be friendly with station staff, and also this would rely on station staff knowing how to use the function, and (possibly) having a login. I’m also presuming these terminals still exist at every station as they were fairly decrepit even a decade ago (think mid-1990s PCs!). Even then much relied on staff who were originally trained at the time passing their knowledge on.

    Thanks for the replies.
Now this is a very interesting topic to me.

A few years back,I got talking to some rail
enthusiasts at Farringdon and they were on the lookout for their last C stock set.
But they knew it was due and within minutes it arrived!

Since then,I always wondered how they got their information as I have been doing it the hard way lol.
Now I'm down to only a handful, makes it more challenging without any gen,but 2 out of 3 in one set on the Central got me ecstatic lol.
I'm next in London 7th-9th Feb.
So if it permissible, please can I post a list here.
If anyone can help, that would be fantastic.
    Many thanks.

Yes, please do put a list up here on the relevant days. If I'm out and about on any of the days in question, I'll keep my eyes open for you and I'm sure anyone else who is around on the system at the time would do so and there's also always the chance that someone with access to the information will be able to help as well.

+1. Not sure what I'm working yet but I will be in on those days, so as long as the service isn't perturbed I'll be happy to look things up if needed.

There’s only two ways of getting the information. One is seeing the train somewhere else and working out where it’s going to be later as per the timetable. Or there’s having an internal contact who can look it up.

Be warned neither method is guaranteed to be reliable - disruption can happen, and even with a “good service” individual trains can be reformed just for being out of turn at a crew relief point, especially at places where stepping back happens.

As an aside, I do know of a couple of staff who have wanted to “drive every unit” on their lines and have been known to get the odd bit of magic worked to get a particular train on a particular working! Not blatantly, but let’s just say that during disruption things can be done in different ways to achieve the same outcome, so doing a 10-way reform in a particular way can be feasible!

10-way reform? Daily occurrence on the MCH. Certain controllers (and ahem signallers) quite like to play trains. Think my own record is about fifteen ("all back one"...)

It’s quite common somewhere like Morden where stepping back happens, although perhaps less common than in the early 2000s when the job seemed to be up the wall every day.

The reform I was thinking of also involved three or four of the trains being turned at various places. A good way of getting about one eighth of the service back on time pretty much in a stroke! Needless to say to needs be the right combination of people on duty though...

Same is true on the Met... but I'll leave it at that on a public forum. (Drop me an internal email if you wish as I'd love to discuss more.)

FWIW, Tomas is only used on the ex Metronet lines, JNP has a different system. It’s actually available for many staff to access via Sap, you can get numbers of all units in a compo so even if the unit you're looking for isn’t on the end it’s easy to search for it.

A bit of a different request, but I think it fits hear. Train 213, formed 21301+21302 was reformed at Edgware Road on the eastbound at 20:00. Please could someone look up what it was reformed to? I forgot to look at Liverpool Street. Thanks in advance.
