With regards to Grayrigg, the train didnt hit anything hard like a bridge abutment, or a really big tree...

Yeah I agree but it was travelling at 95mph and fell down a pretty steep embankment, it would be foolish to brush it off as a minor incident. As I mentioned in my previous post I do believe that the design of the pendolino prevented the injury/death toll from being much worse.
