Difficult to define. Does it reset when you leave the system? What about changes involving leaving a station and walking?

Anyone done the Trans-Siberian? 5778 miles, 8 time zones and about 7 days and the service runs between Moscow to Vladivostok. That service is just the third longest single continuous journey with the longest two (that happen to also traverse the route for part of their journeys) are Donetsk to Vladivostok and Moscow to Pyongyang services

Anyway, I can't remember exact timings at intermediate points but can remember departing Farnborough and arriving home but on one forum meet I was out of Farnborough and on the railway network throughout (except a short Taxi ride of 25 minutes or so) for a whopping 26 hours 29 minutes. Harold Bailey's is a bit longer as he had to travel to/from Fratton!

Farnborough 06:16
King's Cross 08:00
Edinburgh 12:30ish
Fife Circle to Kirkaldy
Then up to Perth
Along to Dundee
Back to Perth
Highland Mainline to Kinguissie
TAXI TO TULLOCH
Ex-Fort Bill sleeper 20:30ish
London Euston arrive 07:43
London Waterloo 08:09
Farnborough arrive 08:45

Altrincham to Minehead Special.

Altrincham 05:20 return 01:30 with 45min break at Minehead. Twas an ill fated trip. Class 40 failed 1/2 hour out of bristol we had to wail for the rescue for ages then continue the rest of the trip. The 3 hour minehead stop was dramaticaly reduced.

I find this thread quite interesting as it vagely resembles my timesheet at work
For ease, i will use a typical week of days as an example.
Monday to Friday, 07:30 - 15:30 with 1 hour unpaid dinner break between 12:00 and 13:00, totalling 35 paid hours
On my timesheet, i have to account for every minute. I have to give a brief description of a job, a route code and a job code, followed by how long it took
So it looks something like this
Des route job hous mins
MSP ES5Ak1 B101 20 00

Travel 10 00
TIA {Train interuptions} 02 00
Safety and Set UP 02 00
Admin 01 00

Thats very basic. We normally do about 5 or 6 different types of job, and then across maybe 2 or 3 different lines. So you could do lifting and packing {MSP} at 2 different locations, and have to enter MSP twice on the time sheet, once for each location.
I reckon you lot should work out your longest journey in terms of wheels rolling ;)

At GMT+1, that train you got back in 2001 (according to my ancient timetable) would have been the 2315 arriving FNB 0002.

The original post is a rather silly overnight journey - did you really do that?

What's the question? Longest train journey done? If so, well it depends how it's defined but last summer we did were several trips that involved the Sleeper, taking approx 12 hours from Fort William to London, with train travel before/after it. I am not sure which would be the longest, depends how it's defined I suppose!

Forgot about those. I remember when we did London-Aberdeen-Inverness-Kyle of Lochalsh-Armadale (bus)-Mallaig-Fort William-London in 2005. That meet started off with a London tour and a trip to Seaford! That was over 55 hours continuous travelling!
