There was a short feature about the re-vamping being complete at Loughborough station on BBC EM news this morning.

Were the platforms lengthened to accomodate the full length of HSTs and 222s?

Yes, signals repositioned where necessary, and all three platforms extended northwards.

The BBC video appears appears to show everything except the platform extensions, however I found a useful image here that shows the new lengths in the transitional stage before they were connected to the existing length through the station:
