Passenger needs to go from Luton Airport to Hinckley, Leics leaving Luton Airport approx 2pm. Speed is of the essence so my thoughts were EMR 14.26 to Leicester then XC 15.50 to Hinckley. 27 minutes transfer window at Leicester. Any other suggestions welcome. Train line is quoting a single at £36.10, thoughts on split tickets welcome, passenger can pre-book via the web from abroad But will be using a foreign credit card - will that affect ability to collect tickets from the machines at either Luton Airport or Luton Airport Parkway?

Yes, £36.10 is correct. Don't think there's any splits that will bring that down. They are available as e-tickets if that's easier than collecting.

Just in case you don't know, the £36.10 fare is from Luton Airport Parkway to Hinckley. There are no through fares from Luton Airport itself to Hinckley. Your friend will need to pay for the bus from Luton Airport to Luton Airport Parkway separately.

The non-UK credit card will work just as well as any other credit (or debit) card for collection. There is nothing in the ToD syatem that distinguishes the two. Though, as SickyNicky says, the ticket from Luton Airport Parkway to Hinckley is also available as an eTicket.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Just received a PM giving a tip that buying an off peak single from LAP to Nuneaton via the routing I stated (Leicester) And leaving the train at Hinckley is only £30.10. So a journey that is 6 miles further is £6 cheaper!

Is that type of ticket valid for an exit at Hinckley just in case Revenue Protection are at that station?

Don't think revenue protection have ever visited Hinckley. In the case pigs are flying on that day that ticket permits break of journey so there should be no issues.

If speed really is of the essence, getting a taxi from Leicester to Hinckley would shave around 15 minutes off the journey, at the cost of about £35 (according to Google Maps).

Potentially more time savings to be had if the final destination is not actually Hinckley railway station, but somewhere in the vicinity that the taxi can go directly to.

The destination is about 300m from the westbound platform at Hinckley which has a direct exit onto the relevant road. Interesting comment re the taxi from Leicester, I hadn’t considered that, just a taxi direct from Luton Airport which would be out of the question cost wise But be the fastest by far.
