A major signalling failure in the Redhill area, compounded by the fast (Quarry) lines being blocked as a result of planned engineering works, has caused caused right across the GTR network this evening. Delays of up to 2 hours have been common on several coastal services.
There was a build up of about 10-12 trains between Redhill and Purley at one stage, with further trains queuing north of Stoats Nest towards East Croydon.
Fortunately, NR has now rectified the fault, but service recovery looks like it'll take until the end of service to work.
