A 67 year old man was sent flying 20 feet down the aisle of a bus and out of the windscreen, landing in the road, after the bus was forced to perform an emergency stop.

More info here

EDIT: Hmm, the online version (above) says he was 67 but the paper version says he was 62.

Ouch. Buses have really powerful brakes.

So the lesson: Always hold on to the Poles!

Ah, just read the paper copy of the newspaper. The vehicle involved was a coach operating the X18 service between Stoke-on-Trent and Sheffield (hence nothing to hold onto). Rather fortunately the chap involved was able to go home from hospital after only three hours.

Ah makes more sense now! Some people can't tell the difference between a Bus and a Coach.

Inaccurate reporting!

Well, as far as first are concerned it is a bus. Instead of it being numbered into the coach group of the national fleetnumber series it is numbered in the 6**** single deck bus series, and as well as operating the long distance X18 route (where it calls at all stops anyway) it can also show up on most of the routes from that depot.
