Fair bit of disruption on Huddersfield and Liverpool-bound services from Piccadilly around 8pm today.
-Some kind of train fault on EMT put the Norwich-Liverpool down a bit.
-a Manchester Airport service was 50 down for some reason
-A service nearly 30 down at Piccadilly after late running into Lime Street on the prior working, overshot a later station after getting halfway down the platform and sharply applying the brakes...
Train stopped, PIS came up with an intercom message, wait a minute then the driver comes out of the cab as the engine shuts down. Walks to the rear cab and reverses on one engine, at which point I headed off home. RTT says the train sat for another 10 minutes before it left, making it 39/40 down.
Not a good day (or indeed hour!) for TPE.
How common are overshoots, and how serious are they?
