A brick lodged between a tram and power cables was the cause of Metrolink problems which led to rush-hour delays.
Part of Greater Manchester's Metrolink system was brought to a standstill after a tram was stranded on a bridge outside the city centre.

Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority (GMPTE) said the electricity supply powering the tram was affected.

Greater Manchester Police said it was investigating the incident, which occurred on Thursday morning.

The Metrolink system was getting back to normal after severe delays on the Altrincham line out of the city centre.

The incident, between the stations at G-Mex and Cornbrook, affected both the Altrincham and Eccles lines, causing problems for commuters.

Passengers taken off the stranded tram got into the city centre on another tram.
