Can anyone advise how many of the new M3000 series trams there will be please? My (last years) AEB combine goes up to 3040, but last Monday I saw trams 3048/51 which had me doubting my eyesight!
Also as the 1000 series are going to be withdrawn what is the position of the 2000 series trams - are they going too?

They are M5000s we've got :)
I believe we are getting currently 74, including 12 to replace the 12 worst T68s.
As for the T68a's, I'm not sure, they're only 12 or so years old, they could last a bit longer hopefully!

52 rolled in the other day, a day late due to bad weather at sea. Think 53 is due either this or next weekend.

The 2000 series (T68a) are probably staying a little longer, unless funding for further replacements can be found.

*allegedly ;)

Currently TfGM are trying get the additional £40m to replace the other 20 T68 trams but they need to order this year to get the run on price.

There was mention of them raiding the back up fund using the justification of a more realiable system that brings in better revenue for getting rid of all the T68's.

Generally the M5000 or 3xxx series trams (so you were sort of right in your original post) are being/have been deliveried one every two weeks. Was said that the delivery schedule is slowing down but not seen any sign if that.

Strangely 3052 was the first M5000 delivered without external numbering for some reason.

For reference their called M5000 because their based on the Cologne K5000 series high floor trams. The Croydon ones are CR4000 as their based on the Cologne K4000 series low floor trams
