Earlier in the week there was a track defect in the complex shamozzlery at Victoria, which meant that trams from the outer inbound platform could not access the Exchange Square line. I think all Rochdale or Shaw to East Didsbury services in both directions were being diverted to the Market Street route, leaving the Victoria (middle platform) - Airports in both directions as the only services able to use the Exchange Square line. That situation may still be subsisting.

The line through the Shudehill stop is now open again, but the stop is currently closed to passengers.

The planned works on the Shudehill platforms are now well under way. Posters on other tram stops talk about the upgrading works at both the Shudehill and the Cornbrook trams stops.

Shudehill should have reopened on September 14th, but was still closed today (Sept. 16th). Looking at Twitter & the TfGM website, they're not sure when it's going to open. But, having passed there this morning, trams are still running on the line, just not calling at the station.

The line was to reopen on the 14th but the station reopening is only a "Mid September" target.

Theres an engineering works website:
https://tfgm.com/travel-updates/cornbrook-shudehill-works

Upcoming is the Airport line will be closed between 3am and 5am on weekdays for two weeks from 23rd September and Cornbrook is closed again next weekend.
Wow, a Northern Powerhouse project! The cynic in me wonders if that is the only NP rail project we will see...

What are they doing at Shudehill, and at Cornbrook besides improving the lift? It doesn't actually say.

Shudehill they are replacing the shelters and platform facilities and moving the pedestrian crossing, Cornbrook its improving the entrance and platform access as well as lengthening canopies and putting some windbreaks around the seats.

Windbreaks of any kind are welcome at Cornbrook, in its elevated situation. I think that Sandhills station in Liverpool addressed its similar problems by constructing proper waiting shelters.
