Friday
I suppose it could be argued that the ticket is valid for an overnight break of journey, but how late would I need to arrive into Shrewsbury to make that argument, and would I get so much hassle from Shrewsbury to make it not worthwhile?
An Off Peak Return to Shrewsbury costs more than the above, and is valid via Chester, but doesn't appear to be valid on the direct trains from Chester to Manchester via Warrington, and seems to require travel via Crewe.
Any suggestions?
Manchester - Shrewsbury (direct) - evening
Saturday
Shrewsbury - Chirk - morning
(break of journey)
Chirk - Manchester (changing at Chester) - evening
An Off Peak Return (SVR) from Manchester to Chirk routed via Chester, plus a change of route excess for the return portion would have been best, except the outward portion would be dated only for the Friday.
