Hello all,

Not sure if it should be in rolling stock but as it's timetable and diagram related, I thought I'd put it here.

On Sunday 21st Feb I see there are some engineering works around Manchester area, I'd quite like to do a SimSig timetable based on it but I need some stock help. RTT already shows formations for Northern which I can get on Sunday when they run, but there is no formations for Avanti, TfW or TPE. I can do the Avanti ones as its easy, solid 11 car 390s all day, but not sure what the TfW or TPE runs will be.

Assuming that most Sundays are a similar set up diagrams wise, would it likely be 175s on the TfW side, and 4 car 350's on the TPE side?

Any help would be most appreciated!

James.

Hi James,
TfW can be a variety of allocated traction- 175s dominate the north Wales coast services via Newton Le Willlows and TfW Crewe-Shrewsbury-Cardiff’s can be 150, 158 or 175.
TPE
you won’t find any Class 350’s, 397s (5 car) operate all Man Apt- Scotland via Preston.
Man Pic-Sheffield-Cleethorpes are 3 car 185s
Man Pic-All stops/fast to Huds- all stops-dewsbury-Leeds- York- Scarbs/Redcar are 6 car 185s under the emergency timetable
Liverpool- Victoria-York and the North East are 5 car 802’s

So far as TFW are concerned you can add pairs of 153s to the Cardiff route

Forgot about the 185's and that route, was in a rush on the phone out in the rain  What's happened to the 350's has the 397's replaced them now then? Show's how much I've kept up with the news, last time I knew they were still getting them delivered, then I long slipped on keeping up with the rail news since!!

Thanks for the help guys, most appreciated!

350s left TPE last year. Their time was numbered anyway with the introduction of 397s, but the emergency Covid timetable meant the 397 fleet could easily replace the 350s.

They were on a lease from London Northwestern Railway anyway, and most were liveried in LNR colours whilst operating for TPE.

Oh right! If I can on Sunday I might try and watch the Railcam at Crewe to get a rough working on the Marches services, not going to watch it all day but at least I'll be able to work out the rest of it's turns on RTT

Oh right didn't realise they were LNWR's! Thanks for that

Thank you so much for the above, highly appreciated!

Noted that the TfW North Wales services are cut short which saves me looking those up as its out of the area.
There were paths in for Manchester Piccadilly, I did expect this to change!

Thanks again, most appreciated!

Indeed I should have mentioned these are merely the plans for today, and should not be taken as the rule for every Sunday. Also, I've not checked to see if the 150 worked services are actually booked for 175s or vice versa - it's just a snapshot of what was allocated at the time of posting.

No problem at all I understood that would be a scenario for today only, which is what I was interested in, and I'd take that any Sunday would be different, especially when today's turns are cut back to Port Talbot as well

Is South TPE currently booked 3-car on Sundays despite being only on a two-hourly frequency? Bizarre if so. Then again not many more Sundays until it goes/should go back to hourly anyway.
