I have a Manchester Traincard. If I want to travel from the central zone to Chorlton, can I buy a ticket starting at zone 2 if my Traincard allows me travel in the central zone?
Yes, as the changeover point is at Cornbrook, which is simultaneously in both Metrolink Zone 1 and 2.I have a Manchester Traincard. If I want to travel from the central zone to Chorlton, can I buy a ticket starting at zone 2 if my Traincard allows me travel in the central zone?

N.B. You'll need to have paid for your Zone 2 ticket before continuing on from Cornbrook to Chorlton-cum-Hardy and, if paying by cash, not sure if you can buy a Zone 2 only ticket from a TVM in the City Centre.
Confirmed by Metrolink when I asked the question on Twitter regarding buying Zone 2 tickets inside the City Zone with Cash/Card. Appears you can't and that you would have to get off and then re board the next service

Yeah, I'm not surprised.
The traincard gives you travel to stops within zone 1, so you can't just carry-on going on the same service using another ticket. You'd have to split the journey with the City Centre - Cornbrook leg on the traincard and the Cornbrook - Chorlton leg as a separate zone 2 ticket (either from TVM, contactless etc).
There is no reason for them to have to delay their journey other than obtaining the second ticket.
I didn't say I agree with it, it's just not surprising given how the ticketing is set up.
The odds are you could get a tram to Cornbrook ahead of one to Chorlton anyway, thus giving the time to buy the onward ticket.
Plus the ones to Eccles/Media City and Manchester Airport. Busy section of line from St. Peter's Square to Cornbrook!Yes, I was going to suggest that - there are 15 trams per hour on that route (10 Alty and 5 East Didsbury), so getting the one before is hardly an issue.

No, Manchester Airport trams are normally to/from Victoria via Exchange Square.Airport starts at Cornbrook, doesn't it?
