An illustrated presentation by the Manchester Evening News
The land on which Victoria Station sits was bought in 1838 by Samuel Brooks, the vice chairman of the Manchester and Leeds Railway, with the intention of building a station to replace the Manchester Oldham Road Station, which was inconveniently located.

George Stevenson designed the original station, and it was named Victoria with the permission on Queen Victoria herself.

In 1844, the railway company bought piece of land which was also a cemetery, consecrated in 1815, and in 1909 William Dawes built an enlarged Victoria Station on it, with 17 platforms.
Nothing really new, but there is a nice collection of old photos/drawings.
