Twitter is now going to be used to keep you all up to speed on the day....hashtag obviously has to be #MadMileathon

Just 7 days to go now until I'll be travelling down to Ashford to get to the start point of the Challenge:lol:

Any tips regards Ashford Int...are the barriers open in the early hours 5:00am?

Going to jump on Twitter in a sec and start using that hashtag to start getting it known.

I would imagine the barriers at Ashford will be up at 0500, but I also wouldn't be shocked to find them well manned!

When I get onto the laptop later I'll get that donation sent over to your page.

EDIT: Tweeted it out and made a start on getting it trending! #MadMileathon will be tweeted about plenty from me in the meantime to promote it, rather looking forward to your tweets

Have also done a tweet for it too which should feed through to my Facebook page too.

Sent over a small donation - apologies it couldn't be more.

Also found your FB page and shared your post earlier today.

Good lad, I've just tweeted this thread, with hashtag included. Who knows, it might make a difference! If it doesn't appear obvious who's who, I'm on there under the handle of @Techniquest2003 :)

Now I've got on the laptop, hugely delayed thanks to spending much longer today filling in my new NREA than expected, the donation is finally on the way!

Many thanks Crispy and Techniquest for your kind donations to my #MadMileathon Challenge....it all helps me towards my target for the NSPCC.

Anyone know what's the likelihood of having 11 car Pendolinos on the following services versus 9 car Pendos??...

1H06 - 0616 EUS - SPT

and

9M60 - 16:52 EDB - EUS

Can't help with the Euston to Stockport run, but the 1652 EDB-EUS has been more often a 9-car 390 when I've seen it before. Not unheard of to get an 11-car one on that service of course.

Could the site Twitter account jump on board and put a few tweets out to help too?

Hi all,

With just 3 days to go now until my Mad Mile-athon (#MadMileathon)...the fundraising is still coming on but I'm still not quite there yet!... so please consider giving me a small donation in support of the NSPCC.

http://www.justgiving.com/Martin-Waters-1400miles

I seem to have avoided the dreaded strike threat ...now i just need the TOCs and NR to do me proud!

Here's a photo of the ticketing Madness for this challenge..

Ticket mayhem! by M W, on Flickr

To say I'm nervous is a massive understatement...roll on Monday and pray that the luck gods are with me.

I'll be tweeting about it in a minute, not seen much mention of it sadly.

Really hope that target gets met, and wow that's a lot of tickets!

With less than 12 hours to go now, I'm safely in place in my hotel in Ashford. Remember tomorrow I'll be tweeting progress on #MadMileathon, and as and when maybe the odd forum post. Here's hoping for success...:D

I've only just seen this - and you're already already south of Edinburgh. Hope the day's fun as well as productive for NSPCC.

After being 13 down at Crewe, a right time arrival into New Street. That Wolvo dwell time is awfully useful. Hopefully he should make the BHM-BMO connection with a couple of minutes to spare.

12 minutes? Easy, should be plenty of time to spare!

I see the 2118 BMO-MYB is currently on time between Leamington & Banbury.

Certainly there's been less engagement on Twitter than I expected, disappointingly.

Keep it going, the final stages are upon you!

6 late leaving Banbury. Hopefully that gets made up en route to London.

Yeah I was expecting more too. Was hoping it might have sparked some more imagination.

Twitter is playing up here, refuses to search for all tweets using#MadMileathon here. Could be doing the same to others.

Really hoping that connection works in London, it's a dodgy one at the moment! If it's fast from Bicester North he might be OK.

Been fine on my phone all day here.

2 mins late in to London - shouldn't be a problem.

Nicely avoided the signalling problems through Birmingham New Street as well which have just started.

Job done everyone!...05:13 into Plymouth ahead of time..a perfect 24 hours. Expect the trip report at some point later in the week. I reckon circa 1470 miles...I'll redo the calculation once my heads recovered. Many thanks to all who followed me yesterday......and all who donated.. and those who haven't.you can still give to the NSPCC at http://www.justgiving.com/Martin-Waters-1400miles

Many congratulations good sir on hitting 1472 miles in 24 hours! Until HS2 arrives that figure will prove impossible to beat with no repeat mileage!

I hope you get that target cleared for NSPCC, and that you enjoy a good rest after all that work! Going back to the day job will no doubt feel easy in comparison!
