I remember many happy Saturdays doing 37s to Holyhead.

The most unusual workings were when Regional Railways operated the Birmingham New Street to Pwllheli summer Saturdays service with a pair of Bescot RETB fitted 31/1s, I did wonder how far we'd get before failing, we made it over Tallerdig, but the fun happened north of Barmouth when the locos decided not to work in multiple, quite convenient that a spare driver was on board the train and worked both locos in tandem, for some unique reason, Regional Railways screwed up with the return working, which was to Crewe and not Birmingham New Street and the stock was required to return to Derby Etches Park. We had a storming run from Shrewsbury to Crewe with a 31
