Sorry for the ask, but can anyone please confirm how many 777s have been delivered so far ?

Thanks
10 units have been delivered so far, once 012 and 014 are delivered this evening.
004 and 006 are at Crewe for modifications including guard panels since August.

There was recently a talk by David Powell, who is the bloke in charge of the Merseytravel rolling stock replacement project, to the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Permanent Way Institute. It's been uploaded to YouTube, and is full if interesting titbits as well as confirmation of the work required to the turnback siding in Liverpool Central.

Also an older one where he confirms:

Driver Opens
Guard Closes (from Saloon)

Trains using ADSO at some stations

Battery range expected to be 15-20 miles, which is conservative to ensure they can also get back. As the battery units can't also have AC equipment, they're thinking about a clever option of using 750v OHLE to give the option to charge en-route without needing to add 3rd rail.

Saw 507/8 trains stabled at siding in New Brighton, West Kirkby and I think at Birkenhead depot as well, there's only so many that can be stabled at West Kirkby 4 at most I would imagine and New Brighton maybe the same as well as overnight stabling of active units for next day operation otherwise to they would have consider parking overnight at each stations each requiring guarding or run through the night to prevent that which would eat into driving hours.

Presumably you could dump a double set in the disused James St platform, but that's not a lot of capacity!
That platform sees a number of empty stock moves every day (at various times throughout the day too) as its the access line for the stock interchange.

There are electrified sidings at Southport that have not seen regular use for some years but could be if required. I haven't been past for some months but there appeared to be some new lighting in place alongside them. There is also one siding left at Hall Road but perhaps not a safe walking route at the side.

The sidings at Southport see regular use especially if the platforms need to be cleared overnight for whatever reason.

Can’t train people on them until Merseytravel/rail accept the units. Acceptance testing has been delayed by COVID-19

Aye that's the conundrum, 507/8 are running out of miles and more new trains are coming in reducing space this would require some inventive space saving system, temporary unpowered sidings can be built on spare land if available or hiring siding from other railway even heritage railways as they are idle at the moment but that's really a last resort.
If a mileage extension can be granted to the 507/8 it will provide a breathing space up continue service.
