From Merseyrail's website:
This does not seem to have been advertised very well at all. I hope there aren't too many teething problems tomorrow morning when people turn up to renew their weekly tickets.
I don't think Northern-managed stations are set up for Walrus yet, so I assume they will continue issuing paper Railpasses for the time being, as with Saveaways.
Weekly, Monthly and Annual Railpass season tickets will move to the Walrus card from Monday 18 February and are available from all staffed Merseyrail stations.
Walrus cards use contactless validation technology so you can now just tap through the station ticket gates.
There is a one off £1 activation charge when you buy a new Walrus card - so if you already have a card remember to keep hold of it.
