Being despatched from Northwood this week are 5068+6068+6069+5069 and 5212+6212+6213+5213. 5213+6213 went out on Wednesday and 6214+5214 should have gone today. For some reason things are running a day or so late this week.

Today's A Stock funeral was units 5082 + 5182, which arrived at Northwood siding at 12.45 running as train 474 rather than 717. Not sure why - surely they didn't come straight out of service from this morning???

Disposal was unexpectedly and indecently quick this time; eight minutes short of two hours after arrival the first two cars to go - 6082 and 5082 - were secured on the low loaders and were emerging from the exit gate while 5083 and 6083 were already in position at the bottom of the loading ramp.

Possibly two despatches this week again? There should be two lots of 'S' stock coming in again - the deliveries have been running on both Monday and Wednesday nights recently.

The table at the bottom of the Wiki page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Underground_A60_and_A62_Stock) and the TFL forum (http://www.thetflforum.co.uk/index.cgi?board=ml&action=display&thread=797&page=1) are worth keeping an eye on for movement gen.

The deliveries have all been on different days of late. I watch them arrive from my windows, and haven't seen them consistently again. The 20's used to hang around too, for about a day. Not anymore :(

They usually arrive at Neasden very early on a Tuesday or Thursday, sometimes both or not at all!

As I mentioned earlier upthread, the Wednesday 8X09 delivery (arr. Neasden around 01:00 Thursday) has recently been supplemented by an additional Monday delivery. It's rare that the Wednesday delivery has not occurred but the Monday run is more 'as required'. With the final push to replace the A60/A62s prior to the Olympics it is becoming more of a regular occurrence.

The 20s stay at Neasden until mid-morning on the Tuesday or Thursday and then relocate to LUL Ruislip depot, where they sit on the reception road (adjacent to West Ruislip station) until early evening, when a GBRf crew arrive to return them to Peterborough.

Presumbaly all involved are now pretty well practiced and slick at getting things done, which will help.

I see 5000 has gone this week. Shame. Travelled on it only a few weeks back. The first A-Stock to be introduced should have been preserved by the London Transport Museum.

Could I ask who moves them between Neasden and Ruislip please?

Ironically it went with 5232, the last unit built.

5000 was a single ended unit and so was never in contention to be the one preserved; that will be a double ended unit and apparently 5062 is one of two units in the frame for this.

However until just three weeks ago the official line was that, barring any misfortune, it was at least intended to keep 5000 running until the very end. From what I gather, it simply ran out of hours since the last check recently.

I think the first A Stock that entered service was not 5000 itself but 5004 + 5008?

I believe there are specific diagrams, but as roughly 60% - 65% of all Met Line diagrams are now S Stock it would be easier to ask the question the other way round, ie which diagrams are still A Stock.

As all staff are now trained on S Stock both Stocks are randomly mixed across the timetable with no specific workings for S Stock.

There are no specific workings on diagrams as trains are allocated to train numbers each morning and are then still subject to change throughout the day as the service requires.

Is there an approximate date for final withdrawal of A Stock from passenger service?

Officially "end of the year" but the delivery rate, number of units remaining to be delivered, add a bit of time for commissioning.... they could in theory have the line completely re-stocked with the bug eyed monsters by the early part of July.:(

Will S stock deliveries for the other lines start immediately or will there be a delay?

They should follow straight on, with the first production S7 already completed.
Entry into service expected in June.

H&C is up first I believe? The Working Timetables released under FoI had a section explaining that Circle and H&C diagrams are currently seperated entirely to allow introduction of S7 to H&C. Presumably the Circle will then follow on, then "Wimbleware"?

That is the current way of thinking, (if "Wimbleware" means the Wimbledon-Edgware Road section of the District Line?)

Yes- I've seen it used a lot on here and elsewhere, makes sense along the lines of the "Bakerloo" naming (and propspective Crossrail 2, from Chelsea to Hackney, I've seen called "Chelney").

I'm not sure whether any of them actually left today (I'll check in the morning) - they were definitely at Northwood for collection - but 5148 and 6148 were on their way at 09:00 (5149 and 6149 having gone yesterday).

There were two intact A Stock vehicles in Eastleigh yesterday ( 16th ) all day, visible from passing trains, but couldn't see the numbers - I think it was one DM and one trailer.

Passed one of the driving cars heading north on the M1 this evening, but I missed the number as I was heading southbound - any ideas? I would assume that it is either 5050 or 5051 from what is written here... Assuming it's a double ended unit? (Sorry, not clued up on my tube numbers!)

Off-topic but interesting was that about twenty minutes before seeing the A Stock I also passed one of the Eurotunnel locomotives...

5051 and 6051 went out yesterday. 5050 and 6050 were on the low-loaders in the car park at Northwood, awaiting the right away, first thing this morning.
