Today First Midland Red held an event at the raceourse in Worcester to offically launch the two memebers of the Worcester fleet in red heritage livery.

Dennis Enviro 300 67664 and Dennis Trident no. 33404 have both been painted in 1960's and pre war mindland red liveries and will be out and about in these liveries.

All of this is to the celebrate 100 years of route 144 Worcester - Birmingham

I remember this service from Birmingham to Malvern via Worcester taking about 3 hours , camped in the Hills on the night and caught the 144 back .
but that was many years ago :( regards dave1954 ...

Yes we do get some people who commute on it end to end. Journey times as generally 1 hour 40 minutes.

The 0700 from Worcester on a sunday morning is always very busy due to the fact that it arrives into Birmingham at 0823 with the earliest train from Worcester not arriving until around 0930.

I know that there may be a change of bus on the way but the Peterborough to Lowestoft X1 takes just short of 5 hours.

LGOC / London Transport / Metroline route 84 started in 1912.

Any others that have kept the same number for over a century?

I'm sure that what is now the 144 was known as the 25/125 until 1928, so it hasn't really kept the same number all this time.

I know someone who used to use it almost end-to-end because it dropped them right outside their place of work on Bristol Road whereas the train would take them into town and they'd then have to get a bus out again.

In Bristol a route has been going for 139 years. With some minor changes

Started out as horse tram in 1875.
Had the number 1 and 2, had a very slight route change in 1900 and has had subsequent extensions as the city has grown and other services merged into it. But it has still kept the same number and follows the same core route as it as done since 1875 and I still run by the same legal entity as then now (First Group).
