Some recent pictures of Midsomer Norton, to show the the Trust members have been busy over winter and are now really looking forward to their first season with passenger trains.

As a result of the expansion, there are opportunities for new volunteers to get involved. The Trust is holding an open weekend on 28 & 29 April where visitors can meet members, see on-going projects in more detail and if you're interested: a free ride, drink and snack are offered, so we can make some time to discuss what might interest you.

It's not all heavy or skilled work: staffing station or museum positions, helping in retail or catering and behind-the-scenes involvements are all possible - training can be provided if you've an interest in acquiring new skills.

Always great to see new life being breathed into a disused line - well done, it looks superb.

looked up Midsomer Norton on Google maps, which does not show the station, but does have a pic of the Jinty at the station

Thanks for the prompt, will check Google - the centre is there as a 'place' but probably needs updating.

The Jinty was run a few years ago and was a bit of a milestone achievement - given the compete dereliction of the site. Since then, a lot has been done and the completion of Phase 1 (track circuit, signal box control and passenger services) is in sight. Marketing in general now needs a lot of work.

We even did some winter clearance of the heavily overgrown track bed towards Chilcompton cutting (Phase 2), found lots of old fence posts to straighten...

Facebook has regular photo updates from all departments.

There's just under half a mile cleared for use, with about the same again being ballasted to make a short stretch of double track to a run-around. This is Phase 1 and hopefully will be completed this year.

Phase 2 has started with another similar distance heading south towards Chilcompton.

Pictures hopefully make it clearer.
