My track atlas says the following: Porthmadog FR 0m04ch, Blaenau Ffestiniog FR13m 48ch. So that's 13m44ch between the two stations.

Some of the more eagle-eyed amongst you may have noticed, I updated the mileage charts for light rail and LU systems over the weekend, as a result of RailMiles being unavailable for these systems. I have also amended the opening post of this thread with relevant resources.

Special thanks go to pdeaves, who, some of you may know, runs an excellent reference website for a large variety of railway data, and has kindly allowed me to link to his website, which contains detailed distance diagrams for TfL services (non-LOROL) and several light-rail systems, for the benefit of this activity.

dcd also created a spreadsheet for London Underground, so if you prefer to have things calculated automatically for you by a computer with full control on the input yourself regarding journey details, you are in luck. The spreadsheet can also aggregate several journeys together under certain circumstances.

Tables with imperial units are more clunky as I try and minimise the need for anyone to add up component parts of a journey, because rounding errors could accumulate quite rapidly. I can say with confidence that, at a rough guess, at least 95% of the journeys you make in normal operation should be readable off the charts directly. These charts are designed with service patterns in mind, so are structured very differently to those in metric units. If your journey cannot be read off directly, feel free to let me know and I will see if I can figure it out for you.

I hope you will find the changes beneficial.

Lost somewhere within Bank-Monument tube station,
Just worked out my mileage for the first 5 months of the year, and it comes in at a whopping 3091 miles. All those manic London trips do add up, as I've found out today. I'm only 968 miles away from beating my 2014 number.

Unfortunately, this number will stagnate something special over the next three months, due to me returning from university for the summer, where I'm not going to have the time, the money, or the want to do much rail travel. However, if I manage to pick up a job in Norwich, I'll probably be commuting three or four days a week between there and Lowestoft, and that's a good 120+ miles a week.

I shall have to investigate these new things, bit awkward on my phone.

After a most excellent trip to Yorkshire, I'm now on 5,710 miles for 2015. Only 290 miles behind my target this year, although only 217 miles had today in June, so that really needs boosting and fast!

Got lots planned though so it should all work out nicely!

Do you have the milage for the NET?

Cheers!

I don't, but there are measurements available from the Railway Codes website I linked to.

I thought you'd done those distance charts, similar to those for Metrolink etc? I've been relying on those for next week!

I never used to have to bother with NET as RM had all the figures.

I won't do anything with it now until the new lines open. Meanwhile you will have to use the distance diagram on the Railway Codes website. ;)

Finally updated my National Rail totals. Sitting on 4485mi 59ch for National Rail. Haven't even started calculating LUL, Tramlink or DLR

At this point it puts me at #15 :D

Cheers for those Brian :)

Also DCD's sheet doesn't have Wood Lane on.

Wood Lane was missing from the original spreadsheet I used to create mine, it came from https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/1779/response/5516/attach/3/Inter%20station%20database.xls however another spreadsheet on the whatdotheyknow site https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/168212/response/413483/attach/4/Inter%20Station%20Train%20Times.xls did have it so I have updated mine. Which will be corrected by bb21 in the first page at some point.

Also of interest may be the DLR distances in https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/168212/response/413483/attach/5/Distance%20Martix%20DLR%202013.xlsx

I have not yet changed this to Miles and Chains but may at some point when I have the time.

Just added up May mileage, just 3 bashes last month, 1 northern rover, 1 Daytripper and a Southern daysave help me just scrape through the 2000 mark and into 5 figures for the YTD - 11876.

Not looking to be a great start to June though, currently incapacitated with a leg injury and already had to cancel this weeks planned bash, and next week looking dodgy too

Over double my YTD mileage total. Grim times there with the injury, hope it wasn't a lot of cash lost!

As I have a subscriber edition I might actually be OK then ;)

Fortunately not.
The Travelodge was refundable and the 2 Northern day tickets were to be bought on the day so the only loss was a £19 advance and a lost EC rewards ticket

That was lucky, could have been so much worse!

Hoping to clear 6,000 for 2015 on Monday, shall soon find out!

I've just added mine up and following my trip to Glasgow and Edinburgh last week I'm now on 2,310mi and 3ch. With a "big trip" planned at the end of this month it looks like I will beat my initial 2,500mi target for the whole year a lot sooner than I expected

I thought it would be useful to post this here for anyone wanting the mileage for the new Todmorden curve, given RMME doesn't seem to have this yet.

According to the sectional appendix I make Burnley Manchester Road to Todmorden to be 8m72ch.

What's it called? It's called Cumbernauld
I have not long completed my mileages for the first quarter of 2015, which I'm sitting on 4946 to end of March.

A summary of my journeys are below. It is noted that the St Pancras International - Paris Gare du Nord mileages were calculated in 2 parts. This was the Railmiles STP - Calais Frethun, then the LGV Nord section I got from Wikipedia. Although I do not normally include London Underground or light rail in my mileages, I have in this instance when I bashed Manchester Metrolink as it is predominantly former heavy rail routes that have been converted.

Also, the Southern Daysave I would have done in April if it was not for Easter falling at the beginning, hence an unusally high mileage compared to 1224 miles for the same period in 2014. On a final point, the SPR/GLC - PYG/ JHN journeys have now declined to non-existent since separating from my now former partner (hence the Central Scotland Rover in March, when I indulged in a bit of cranking therapy :)).

Summary of rail journeys

Month Trip Via Occurrence Miles Total miles

Jan SPR – PTK 5 6 30
GLC – PYG 2 7.25 14.5

Feb SPR – PTK 4 6 24

Not bad at all, some rather decent figures there! I really need to do some longer distance moves again, my mileage figures are suffering as a result of too many small leaps to score shacks and trains!

That being said, come the first week of August I'll have got some rather serious mileage! <D
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Finally got my NET journeys from last week added to RM (which if you're a subscriber is all fine and gravy, all the data is in there and no need to use the 'Insert International Journey' function to add a journey manually :D), which took longer than expected.

As a result of all that, and yesterday's journey from Ledbury to Hereford (long story, not going into that, it would be longer than my average trip report!), I'm now on 6,070 miles and 24 chains for 2015 so far.

We're only 15 days away from the half-way point of 2015 now, which is an incredibly scary thought. 6 months and 2 weeks to squeeze in everything I'd planned for the year! 6,070 miles is only 70 miles ahead of my target for the year so far, which was either a thousand miles each month (which has gone well out of the window!) or an average of 1,000 miles per month by the end of 2015. It soon transpired I wasn't going to hit 1,000 miles each month on its own, so I've settled with the latter plan. The end of July is going to be the biggest contributor for some time to that!

576 miles and 36 chains for June so far, with zero chance of getting that up much at all now. A family holiday is interfering with all the plans I had made, even though I'll only be able to join them for 2 days as work is in the way. Still, we shall see what happens!

Oh and I haven't forgotten my Rolling Review of 2015 is a little out of date currently, I'm about to go and fix that! 13th place when I checked earlier in the table too, quite pleased about that!

Following an impromptu family holiday to the Isle of Man prior to my five day rail focused trip away next week I managed to get some rail miles in on the Isle of Man Railway and the Manx Electric Railway. I'm now on 2,422 miles and 64 chains

Now reached 6483 miles 49 chains after ~89 miles were covered today :D. Didn't realise I'd dropped down to Number 16 though :(
