You compare Corbyn with Erdogan?

Get used to it. Corbyn has been compared to far worse characters than Erdogan on these forums.

I'm sure Corbyn's critics have many lovely qualities, but a sense of perspective is not one of them.

I'm guilty of calling him Corblin a few times, but that was a joke because Corbyn is obviously far less brutal than Stalin. Luckily, in the UK MPs dont kill their rivals.

Nope, just saying that
"Someone who does not like him gets often a stone through the window"

could refer to people who don't like Corbyn.

Those in the constituency office of Angela Eagle would be very hard pressed to believe that the brick that was thrown the constituency office window there was hurled by someone who doesn't like Corbyn..

I see your reading comprehension is struggling tonight - too much pinot again?

"In several cities in Europe Turks came out in support of Erdogan. Someone who does not like him[Erdogan] gets often a stone through the window."

"In several cities in Momentum came out in support of Corbyn. Someone who does not like him[Corbyn] gets often a stone through the window."

But this is going rather offtopic, sorry

I thought I'd share these. They are from the daily mail but I don't really care.

This is the horrifying moment a military tank crushed cars and protesters on an Istanbul bridge killing them during the failed military coup in Turkey.
In footage released today by President Tayyip Erdogan's office, the rebel tank can be seen hurtling along the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, which crosses Istanbul's Bosphorus river.
But rather than coming to a halt when faced with pedestrians and cars trying to flee the violence, it continues crushing everything in its path.

More details about the purges (as mentioned earlier on here):

President Erdogan has wreaked revenge on nearly 18,000 people across the country with more than 7,500 military personnel, police and judges arrested for plotting the coup that failed to topple him in midnight raids last Friday.
A further 10,000 police officers, judges, state governors and civil servants from the Interior and Finance Ministries were suspended in a series of shock announcements throughout the day.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is the Turkey’s first president to survive an armed challenge to power, was in Ankara today attending funerals of some of the 208 people who died during the attempted power grab.

Seems like this Coup has been a perfect excuse for Erdogan to purge just about anyone who opposes him.

More suprisingly he seems to have public backing for behaving like a Dictator.

Turkeys impotent executive and judiciary seems somewhat more akin to that of Russia rather than a liberal Western Democracy.

Are the Turks barbarians at the "gates of Europe" ?

At least 49,000 Government staff now sacked in Turkey, 21,000 teachers gone, every single University Dean told to resign or be sacked.
Erdogan has 6,000 odd soldiers in custody, 755 judges locked up, obviously the lists must have been drawn up some time ago.

Jobs a-plenty then if you want to work in a dump like Turkey

At least they won't be joining the EU just yet, not that it necessarily matters for us any more...

John Kerry, the US Secretary of State is openly questioning Turkey's NATO membership as well because being a member requires all countries to uphold democratic principles which Turkey isn't doing whatsoever.

Would the USA risk kicking out Turkey at the expense of its own missile installations?

Of course they don't want them expelled as Turkey is very handy strategically but it might be forced upon them.

Let's watch this space. At least Russia hasn't reacted to American missiles in Turkey by putting their own missiles back in Cuba...
