Mixed up Oyster cards

Are Oyster Cards specific to the person holding them?

I live with my Other Half and we both have Oyster cards which we use for pay as you go travel. I have a feeling that the cards may have been mixed up at some time and I may be using her card and she has been using mine.


Does it matter, and if so, is there any way of finding out which card is registered to whom?

Cards that are only loaded with a PAYG balance are transferable.

As soon as you load a travelcard, or a national railcard discount entitlement, they are no longer transferable.

If either card is fully registered, an online check should show you its serial number.

It doesn't matter. If you have registered them online, you can see the card numbers when you log into Oyster Online.
