It seems to be about using Meridians in multiple:-

MML is compromising safety by not putting two guards on each train because staff cannot move through different sections of the train when it is moving as they are sealed off.

Do MML use Meridians in multiple, or just have plans to do so? I'm not aware of any splits, and if 4/5 cars aren't enough they have the 9 car Meridains available to lease, so why do they need to couple them up?

I don't think it was a good idea (admittedly by Virgin in the first place) to order trains that don't have corridor connections.
