To give us enthusiasts and photographers an exact date to when we could see Morayshire running, they have dedicated this weekend to the beast. So having copped the deltic at North Queensferry, I headed straight to Bo'ness, where I saw the LNER 4-4-0 being prepared ( I arrived a bit early, about 2 hours early, but that was to be of help ). I was soon invited over by the engine driver to take a closer look at "Morayshire", and then I was asked that for the first service, would I like to join them on the footplate for the whole journey.
An offer I couldn't refuse.
The engine performed brilliantly, slipped a few times on the banks, but nothing it couldn't deal with.
