It is in the right place, it just makes the timetable completely fixed in terms of services and likely to fall apart when something goes wrong much as now. Don't ever expect extra stations like Carno etc... that will need extra infrastructure.
Exactly NR ran around in presentations in 2008 saying this was the optimum solution to come out of the GRIP process no one listened when we said "recovery from delay" "where do the railtours fit"and "flexibility for the future". Stakeholders in Mid Wales took the work as a sign the hourly would happen imminently and took their eye off the ball, after all pathing concerns is technical and for rail enthusiasts...

A (WG) spokeswoman said: “Daytime hourly services between Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury will be prioritised for delivery between 2012 and 2015, subject to ongoing infrastructure and timetable discussions and implementation by Network Rail and Arriva Trains Wales, as well as the business case and availability of funding.”
I wonder what Infrastructure discussions they are?
