I once shared the coach with Imran Khan on the local from Worcester to Birmingham, during his Worcestershire cricket days.

I was once on a GNER train in first class (complimentary ticket en route to York for an interview with GNER of all things) and John Prescott was in the next bay. He stuffed his face all the way to Donny, where I presume one of the Jags was waiting to take him to Hull rather than him ride in a Pacer or a 156 (as it would have been then).

I saw Dr Legg off of Eastenders on a train once (in second class, so presumably BBC salaries aren't all that).

I was once on a train from Belfast to Dublin and Sam McAughtry and Frank Carson were both on board. Actually it was a bus from Belfast to Lisburn to get the train from there because the line had been blown up *yet again*.

Neil Kinnock, Colin Milburn and the bloke who played Tosh Lines on The Bill. Oh, and Max Boyce and Polly Toynbee on the underground.

I have had Ulrikakakakakaka on my train.
Not in the biblical sense I hasten to add. Although I obviously would had it been offered !!

Also had Les Battersby on, or the actor who plays him should I say.

And when I was a Laaaanden bus driver I had Micheal Foot on board

Not while driving I would hope. Surely you would run additional risks of passing signals at danger.

No No No. I would have given Ulrika my full attention. Stuff driving trains if that was on offer !!

Would you have done a Sir Lamiel and set fire to an entire county to give a legitimate reason to stop driving then? ;)

Of them all, my favourite was Captain Picard. Two on the buzzer on my 158? No.

I was once sat opposite Michael Fish the BBC weatherman from Euston to Manchester a couple of years ago. Found him to be a bit rude to be honest listening to the way he spoke to people. :-/

Once saw Alan Hansen in the bar on Preston station on a Saturday morning a couple of years ago.

I have seen Harry Redknapp (Spurs boss) on Manchester Piccadilly on 6 August, whilst waiting for a Forum Meet, as well as Frank Carson (Irish comedian), someone off Loose Women and Jason Roberts (Blackburn Rovers striker).

My Dad has seen David James (England and then MCFC goalkeeper) on a VXC service to Birmingham New St (he was changing to go to Exeter, and had an F&F railcard too) a few years back.

Alan Hanson, Alex Salmond and only last week I had Jimmy Carr on my train.

Jimmy Carr is a legend, what service was he on?

I once travelled from manchester to London in the same compartmnet as George Best.

Have also travelled on trains with the following on board - Trevor Brooking, Nigel Lawson and Tony Benn among many others.

Probably the most famous person was the Queen Mother who was travelling from Birmingham to London ( I was going as far as Rugby) and the whole of the front coach was reserved for her and her staff.

PS Who is Jimmy Carr?

Waterloo to Epsom with Sir Norman Wisdom.

Waterloo to Epsom ( and vice versa ) several times with Lord Ashley.

Found myself sitting directly opposite Nigel Lawson on a tube to Heathrow T4 once, when he was still Chancellor.

Euston to Manchester on the same 390 as Jackie "porngate" Smith a couple of years ago. Entire rear carriage was reserved for her and her minions and security team and so many policemen on the platform at Euston that you'd have thought the "Grove Train" was running...!!

Newark Northgate to King's Cross across the aisle from James McPherson, who was still in Taggart at the time.

East Croydon to Victoria opposite Dr Sir Patrick Moore and Dr John Mason, who were on their way to a British Astronomical Society meeting in London.

David James is a regular on XC services it seems!

I had the distinct pleasure of taking Brooke Vincent from Corrie to Oxford not long back - and I have to say she's a very friendly young lady too!

Once famous anyway, Charles dance, on a 303 to Partick. His sister lives in Cardross, as does Margaret Thatcher's apparently. He sat opposite me and gave me a very strange look straight out his of "jewel in the crown" officer role.

John Goodman on the tube from H'row prior to padd express.

Lord Lucan was a regular syphon basher out of Dingwall....;)

Not sure I would like to sit opposite Ms Dimmock. You might get your eye taken out ;)

On the train it would probably be Jack Straw, but that was way back before Labour won the 1997 election, Tommy Docherty, John Denhom, Christopher Timothy plus others. In the ticket office I have served, Vince Cable & Charles Kennedy, Ken Livingston, Ross Kemp, Jane Horrocks, Nigel Planer, Trevor Bayliss and various other illuminaries etc.

Although not train related, Norman Lamont once scrounged a fag off me.
It was around 1996 and I had a (catering) agency gig clearing tables on the House of Commons terrace, overlooking the river.
I was clearing his table and he suddenly turned to me "You don't happen to have a cigarette, do you?"
My favorite MP of the period (on the terrace) was Diane Abbott. Very sweet and friendly.
Apologies for the slight drift.
