They have, though, managed to maintain a service from Paris to various destinations, taking advantage of (presumably) spare capacity on overnight freight/parcels. It is well used in season.

True. Though technically in order to comply with the conditions of carriage the fuel tank was supposed to be emptied prior to loading. I have no idea if this was actually enforced.

Yes, they go on a daytime TGV and pick up the car next day - except for Briancon where I think the car-carriers are attached to the couchettes.

Motorbikes conveyed on passenger trains upto late 1980s, certainly from Euston and they definitely had some fuel in their tanks
