As a driver (trainee) I am very impressed with the details on these photos @Jaz avalley . The ballast on that middle and last photo is crazy and as previously mentioned the weathering is spot on. I don’t normally come out of hiding from the careers area but I realise now I may of been missing out a bit!
Even the rails are rusty

It is very good. The only element that is slightly out of place is the coarseness of the rails in the last shot and even that is moderated by the rust treatment. On a USA model the rails would probably look right, given the heavier gauge used there. Very fine work.

i have been very lucky, some real ex employees know I will take any criticisms and attempt to improve obvious mistakes, obviously small areas are easy to fine tune, the loft is large 43foot long so getting everything upto speed would not be easy, there is still a good list of items I am aware of to address, some harde than others
1. The double tunnel at the nd of Kalborough is not curved enough, too square,an engineer pointed this one out but I need to pull the whole tunnel area, and attempt to fill in - taking out would have been hard enough I know I have to do it but usually obscure the issue with rolling stock
2 I have plenty of rolling stock without the ladders but ensure where possible they they do not show in pictures, then ask people to nit pick so I can fine tune
3 it was pointed out to me that on a 00 gauge layout n gauge ballast works best, not all has been replaced but I have looked at over layering and avoiding any glaring mistakes
4 I have locos that should have overhead electric I have the modelling items, but my era encompasses the time when in real life diesel were pulling them through areas that were not yet all electrified - my excuse, plus it allows me to show off 2 locos for one lol.
5 I love the modelling, and do the rust, weathering, etc and doing the railway and the non railway scenic in runs through
6 Goathland station being a preservation station that does events to attract customers such as WW2 cosplay events lends itself to other opportunities,as does the fact it is used for filming regularly,it was on Heartbeat with Aidensfield enough that the main pub, church, and mechanics garage are all modelled there, The Hogwarts train can legitimately be run there as it was used for the Harry Potter films, and this has led to other filming skits usually as Christmas for light relief with fellow modellers as a Christmas present or Easter egg joke.
But the layout can be run as a vanilla real life copy, or as a totally tutti ftutti for a laugh be replacing some items, and I try to make the best of the kit I buy by making it more believable.
7. Please please feel free to criticise as anything that gives me an opportunity to address something that is wrong and correct it just helps make it better
8 I also carefully photograph as asked earlier can I broaden the views as concentrating on small parts setting focus to blur certain items allows me a smoke and mirrors where your brain fills in the gaps for me...psychology rules lol

we bought the locos, then the name tags,I updated a figure...then people said it needed the birds...what can I say? LOL it got out of hand

as you can see the engineers are working their fingers to the bone improving the layout :D
some pictures are old so updates have been done, but still criticism always helps me focus on poor areas, staff who work with preservation kit have been very helpful,,given me picture reference for colouring etc.

Thanks - fine shots of fine work. Yes, that tunnel would collapse! The Pandrol-clipped track is very detailed - is it 'off-the shelf'? 'Thunderbird 2' should be in Virgin livery as it lost its BR green long ago!

Those are some lovely shots @Jaz avalley - I've seen bits of the layout before in your thread but it's always nice to see. That big station is really nice: just the sort of thing I'd love to have on a large loft layout.

Pretty basic peco 70,we did look at more expensive supposedly better modelled, but once you do the math, unless you build from scratch the peco was good enough, and easy to source, came in different finishes, and quick to lay down
