It is nice to see the above rail tour company sponsoring Radio Caroline North this weekend, and advertising the above tour on 7th September. It is not a company I am familiar with but good for them.

OPTION 1 – Grand Circular Tour via the Settle & Carlisle Route & Lake District:
Join us on a grand scenic tour, as we travel outwards via the famous Settle and Carlisle route, 72 miles of rugged and remote Pennine landscape, whose major engineering masterpiece is the Ribblehead Viaduct. During your journey, you will cross over 20 major viaducts, which give unforgettable views of the moors and fells, as well as the beautiful Dentdale, with its location known as the highest mainline station in England. Experience with us, the great viaducts, tunnels, and breathtaking scenery, which makes this line unique, and which today is a living memorial to Victorian endeavour. On arrival at Carlisle, there will be a short break to discover this historical city, which is home to a very small cathedral, a castle, and powerful classical streets. Following our visit to Carlisle, we travel over one of the more spectacular of England’s rural routes – the Cumbrian Coast Line via Workington and Grange-over-Sands. This 120 mile journey is a leisurely exploration of rural Cumbria and its remote coastline, with an exciting and varied landscape which forms a background to old ports and harbours. We return to East Anglia via Carnforth, Lancaster, Preston, Blackburn, Copy Pit, Hebden Bridge and Doncaster.

OPTION 2 – Windermere Cruise & Lakeside & Haverthwaite Steam Railway: Leave the special train at Appleby to join the waiting coaches for the very scenic journey via Lake Ullswater & Kirkstone Pass to Bowness – which is at the very heart of the Lake District.....
