I don’t understand why so many people in the rail industry, including Robin Gisby in his statement regarding David Brown’s replacement, keep going on about how many challenges Brown faced. It isn’t the number of challenges someone faces that matter but how they tackle and overcome them. Climbing Everest is a challenge but if you die on the ascent you’ve not done very well.

It still very vague what Shapps soundbite means, as there are various ways to be cleaner

Are we talking roving cleaners picking up litter during the day, better cleaning at night, or proper deep cleans cleaning ground in dirt and stained seat covers?
Even as I mentioned in other thread enables them to still cancel trains with a new excuse train cancelled due to the train requiring specialist cleaning ..
However at Manchester Piccadilly I have seen recently contracted cleaners coming onto trains in platform and cleaning them ie litter pick have not seen any elsewhere yet.

I'm sure David Brown will probably reappear in the near future as a MD for another TOC. A few forum members have already stated it's like the premiership football league with managers going from one club to another!!!

I also wonder in time with the travel safe officers on northern. Iff they start implementing fines or penalties to those caught graffiting or littering the train. So passengers also have their part to play in keeping trains clean on their behalf.

Any new MD will likely want to clean house so other managers may likely be moved on if they are felt to be part of the problem.
